I don't care if you're the cutest, or the smartest, or the most talented, but I do care that you know what kind of person you are, and that you're okay with being that. That you're attractive in your own right. That you have a sense of humor. That you're willing to make mistakes, but can still use a little common sense. That you're respectful, and considerate of yourself, me, and others. That you're up for trying new things [at least once?], and having a good time. That you aren't afraid to be wrong, and open to seeing things from another's perspective, but will stand up for yourself and your opinions. That you find passion in the things you love. That you do, in fact, love! But also that you understand what it means to be in a relationship, and are willing to fight for one. And that you sincerely, and without question, want to share some of your time with me, for however long we can manage to keep ourselves afloat. These are not impossible standards. It seems it's mostly just a matter of finding the right person at the right time. Which, for me, has always been a little askew.
But know too that I'm not willing to settle for someone I don't have the connection with that I'm looking for. I need to be excited over having you in my life. Over a text message or phone call. Over being kissed by you, and the comfort of spending a night in your arms. Over loving your idiosyncrasies and cherishing your flaws, when with anybody else I'd hate a similar quality. Knowing that I'm worried you don't like me as much as I like you, but that when all is said and done, you do. Being content, and not uncertain.
That is what I want.
